China Leads Asia’s AI Race: What Makes the World Pay Attention?

China has become a dominant force in the global AI landscape. According to the 2025 Stanford AI Index, the country has overtaken the U.S. in research output and real-world AI deployments.
This success is driven by heavy government investment and the rise of tech giants like Baidu, Alibaba, and Tencent. Chinese AI products, ranging from smart surveillance systems to AI translation and healthcare applications, are now widely used in developing countries.
However, China’s AI boom also sparks global debates over ethics, data privacy, and state surveillance.
“If AI is the future, China wants to rewrite the rules,” commented an analyst from Singapore.
